This is an advanced embroidery technique that mimics the effect of painting, where needle and thread take the place of brush and paint. The effect is achieved through layers of very intentional stitches, creating realistic shadows, gradients and textures.

Young artist Emillie Ferris shows us how to achieve this feat and presents us with beautiful motifs in iron-on transfers: they are printed on special detachable sheets which, using an iron, are directly transferable to the fabric to be embroidered.
